Company links with Bollore Logistics on $370m renewable energy project

Linx Cargo Care Group has offered an insight into its role in the delivery of wind turbines to the Moorabool Windfarm in Victoria, stevedoring at Lascelles Wharf in Geelong Port.

For four months, Linx has been managing the port side cargo unloading and container handling operations for its customer, French company Bollore Logistics, as part of the transport of wind turbines to the $370 million renewable energy project.

The Moorabool Windfarm is located about 4km south of Ballan in Victoria and is being developed in two stages.

Upon completion, the windfarm will boast 107 wind turbines, which will altogether generate 321 megawatts in renewable energy to power an average of 200,000 Victorian homes each year.

GROWING RELATIONSHIP

Linx operations manager Andrew Hill says that it is rewarding for Linx to be involved in a sustainable energy project like the Moorabool Windfarm.

"Our stevedores are well versed in handling wind turbines, therefore we’re able to offer Bollore Logistics problem solving and solutions-based operations," Hill says.

"With the growth in the renewable energy industry, our experience in this area positions us well to secure future contracts with companies like Bollore Logistics."

Bollore manager – national projects Mark Norman acknowledges Linx’s Lascelles Wharf team for its cooperation and support.

"The stevedore supervisors are unfailingly helpful, patient and innovative," Norman says.

"The entire team of stevedores are professional, enthusiastic and willing, often in challenging circumstances. We look forward to working with Linx for the remainder of the project."

"This is the first time we’ve worked with Bollore Logistics and we’re proud to have established a valuable relationship with the company through the Moorabool Windfarm project," Hill says.
