Flames destroy tractor and truck E-mail

A TRUCK and a tractor were destroyed after they caught fire yesterday afternoon at South Bingera, about 20km from Bundaberg.

Queensland Fire and Rescue station officer Andrew McCracken said the truck was transporting the tractor at Camira Court, Parkview Estate, when the blaze started about 2.20pm.

“The tractor caught fire and it went through to the truck that it was loaded onto,” Mr McCracken said.

“Both were severely damaged.”

Two firefighters from the Bundaberg station tackled the blaze while wearing breathing equipment, due to the toxic smoke given off by the burning plastic and chemicals.

Firefighters from South Bingera Rural Fire Brigade also attended the scene.

The crews managed to bring the flames under control within half an hour.

“Because of all the nooks and crannies in the vehicles, firefighters stayed on the scene to make sure it did not flare up again,” Mr McCracken said.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”

Bundaberg police were investigating the incident.
